Tuesday morning: Wake up early to "beat the lines" at the polling station. Get slightly delayed due to morning sickness. Finally make it through morning chores and head off to the local elementary school. Wait in line for two hours amongst a sea of colorful, different, and boisterous crowd. Although asked multiple times if I got two votes this year, I only cast one vote. Excited at actually celebrating an election result, I exit the polling station proudly wearing my little "I voted" sticker and head home. Then my good husband takes advantage of my little sticker to get free ice cream.
Later that evening I attempt to watch the election results. Instead I fall asleep at nine o'clock. Although not before I found out I once again live in a red state. (I don't know why I keep ending up in places where liberal is a dirty word.) I sleep through the night.
I then wake up at 4:30-(don't ask, it all part of my job)-to find we have a new President-elect. I cry during the acceptance speech. I partly blame this on the hormones, partly due to the fact I am no longer embarrassed when I watch CNN.
It is time for a new chapter, a new beginning, and hope. Now excuse me....I'm going to cry again and then go to sleep.
